We have a long way to go before we get close to the early signing period in December, not to mention National Signing Day 2019, but that doesn’t mean the recruiting battle for one of the nation’s most sought-after prospects isn’t already heating up.

Tuesday, Rivals updated its 2019 player rankings, and a new name has emerged at the top of the list — North Carolina prospect Quavaris Crouch. The massive 6-foot-3, 222-pound five-star running back prospect has nearly every elite program in the nation knocking down his door and will have his choice of school to play for in the coming months.

Adam Friedman of Rivals recently caught up with the bruising Carolina native to ask where things stand in his recruitment. According to Crouch, Tennessee and Clemson are the two teams standing out to him at the moment. However, the Vols aren’t alone in the SEC as South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn and Georgia were all schools mentioned by the five-star prospect.

It will be interesting to see if Crouch sticks at running back or shifts to defense in college — he also plays linebacker for his Harding University High School program out of Charlotte. Crouch was named North Carolina’s Gatorade Player of the Year in 2017.

Check out his junior season highlight reel here to get an idea of why so many college programs are eager to get him on campus. He appears to possess tremendous speed for a prospect of his size.
