The SEC is an elite football conference. We all know that.

But, outside of Kentucky (and occasionally Florida and LSU), there is often not much to write home about in the basketball world.

On Wednesday night, though, when Georgia G Anthony Edwards was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, the SEC made history. For the first time ever, the SEC has had the No. 1 overall pick in both the NFL and NBA Drafts.

Joe Burrow, the former LSU QB, went No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft, and now Edwards ensured that the SEC became the first conference since the Mountain West (shocking, right?) to have the No. 1 picks in the NBA and NFL drafts in the same year:

Joe Burrow is having a great season with the Cincinnati Bengals and is in the running for Rookie of the Year. Will Edwards be in the mix for the NBA’s version of the award?
