The 2022 NFL Draft just ended, and the SEC led the way with first-round picks once again.

But, could the league be setting itself up for a historic 2023 NFL Draft next year in Kansas City?

That’s what Pro Football Focus’s Michael Renner thinks. He released his way-too-early Round 1 mock draft for next year, and he has an unprecedented 17 SEC stars going in Round 1, with 8 going in the top 10:

  • No. 1 — Bryce Young, QB, Alabama — Houston Texans
  • No. 2 — Will Anderson Jr., Edge, Alabama — Atlanta Falcons
  • No. 3 — Jalen Carter, DL, Georgia — New York Jets
  • No. 5 — Arik Gilbert, TE, Georgia — Jacksonville Jaguars
  • No. 7 — Jaquelin Roy, DL, LSU — New York Giants
  • No. 8 — Will Levis, QB, Kentucky — Seattle Seahawks
  • No. 9 — Kayshon Boutte, WR, LSU — Chicago Bears
  • No. 10 — Antonio Johnson, S, Texas A&M — Washington Commanders
  • No. 12 — Cam Smith, CB, South Carolina — Philadelphia Eagles
  • No. 13 — Nolan Smith, Edge, Georgia — Philadelphia Eagles
  • No. 17 — Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia — Miami Dolphins
  • No. 20 — Kris Abrams-Draine, CB, Mizzou — Indianapolis Colts
  • No. 24 — Eli Ricks, CB, Alabama — Dallas Cowboys
  • No. 25 — Gervon Dexter, DL, Florida — Seattle Seahawks
  • No. 26 — Broderick Jones, OL, Georgia — Los Angeles Chargers
  • No. 27 — Devon Achane, RB, Texas A&M — Miami Dolphins
  • No. 29 — Jaheim Bell, TE, South Carolina — Green Bay Packers

Obviously, there’s still a lot of time for these rankings to change, but we’ll see how things play out over the 2022 college football season.
