Tim Tebow’s quest to earn an NFL roster spot suffered another setback Saturday, as the former Florida great and Heisman trophy winner was cut by the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Tim’s really progressed but we didn’t feel like he was good enough to be the (third quarterback) right now,” Eagles coach Chip Kelly told ProFootballTalk. “He just needs to get out there and get more reps.”

Tebow, who was competing to earn the spot as Philadelphia’s No. 3 quarterback behind Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez, performed reasonably well in four preseason games. He completed 21 of 36 passes for 286 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while rushing 14 times for 82 yards and another score. He took five sacks, however, and fumbled twice.

See below for a list of other former SEC players who were cut as NFL teams trimmed their rosters Saturday. (Note: Several NFL teams chose not to release their full list of cuts. These include the New Orleans Saints, St. Louis Rams, Oakland Raiders, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals.)
