The upcoming college football bowl season could feature even more teams from the SEC than last year as the Sporting News recently published their bowl predictions for the 2018 season. By the end of the 2017 season, nine SEC teams advanced to bowl games but the Sporting News envisions that number climbing by the end of the upcoming season.

The teams that project to make a bowl game that missed out last season are Florida and Tennessee. Every other SEC team that made a bowl game last season is projected to do so again in 2018. The only teams not selected on this list were Arkansas, Ole Miss (who is currently eligible to play in a bowl game) and Vanderbilt.

In an interesting note, South Carolina is projected to make a return to the Outback Bowl. The Gamecocks won the game last season with a 26-19 win over Michigan.

Here’s each bowl game that projects to have an SEC team in 2018, according to the Sporting News:

  • Tennessee vs. Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl
  • Florida vs. Pittsburgh in the Independence Bowl
  • Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma State in the Texas Bowl
  • Missouri vs. N.C. State in the Music City Bowl
  • LSU vs. Florida State in the Belk Bowl
  • Kentucky vs. Army in the Military Bowl
  • Mississippi State vs. Virginia Tech in the Gator Bowl
  • South Carolina vs. Michigan State in the Outback Bowl (the Gamecocks won last season’s Outback bowl)
  • Auburn vs. Penn State in the Citrus Bowl
  • Georgia vs. TCU in the Sugar Bowl (UGA beat TCU in the 2016 Liberty Bowl)
  • Alabama vs. Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl (National Semifinal Playoff Game)
  • Alabama vs. Clemson (National Championship Game – set to be held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans)
