This offseason, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Florida all named new head coaches (and Ole Miss took the interim tag off Matt Luke).

With all those changes, that’s nearly half of the conference that won’t be firing a coach at the end of the season (in theory).

On Monday, Sports Illustrated writer Andy Staples joined “Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly” and said he doesn’t think any SEC coaches are on the hot seat heading into the 2018 season:

LSU, Kentucky and Vanderbilt fans may take issue with that statement, as there has been some chatter about Ed Orgeron, Mark Stoops and Derek Mason needing to have good years avoid losing their jobs.

However, Staples could ultimately be proven right — it’s too early to tell. We’ll learn a lot about this year’s LSU squad in its Week 1 matchup against Miami on Sunday night, though.
