After a turbulent start to the season, last week found the SEC returning to its greatest hits: Alabama dominating, Georgia playing down to its competition, and Tennessee tripping over its own feet on national television.

Let’s check in on each SEC school and see how each fan base is feeling heading into Week 5:

Alabama

It was another dominating performance for the Crimson Tide, and after four consecutive blowout victories, fans are relieved to finally reach the “easy” part of their schedule. For the next few weeks, the only tension Bama fans will have while watching their games is what will happen to get Saban mad and whether the announcers will say something culturally insensitive about Hawaiians.

Arkansas

You might think Arkansas fans would be horrified at their awful start, but it’s all a matter of perspective. If they were in the ACC, they would be right in the thick of things right now.

Auburn

At the start of the year, Auburn fans would be very excited to beat Arkansas by 31 points, but now only winning by 31 seems a little low. Nevertheless, the Tigers are hoping the game against the Razorbacks will act as a tune-up for the much more serious game this week against Southern Miss.

Florida

There are some questions we’ll never know the answer to like “How did we get here?” or “What happened at the end of LOST?” and “Is Florida a good football team?” They did blow out Tennessee on the road, but they also lost to Kentucky at home. The again, Kentucky is actually pretty good this year, so that loss isn’t as bad … but also Tennessee is a burning diaper pile, so that win doesn’t mean much at all …. These are the kind of existential questions Florida fans are asking themselves this week.

Georgia

The Bulldogs actually looked mortal for a bit against Missouri, which is a bit concerning to the more fanatical end of the fan base. But even more concerning is dealing with the fact that Kentucky is now their biggest threat in the SEC East. Bulldogs fans aren’t prepared for mind games like this.

Kentucky

Have the Wildcats taken this whole being good at football thing too far? Kentucky fans are feeling confident in their team after a big win against Miss. State, but there’s also a part of every UK fan that thinks this is all like a scene in “Catch Me if You Can” and that the season will end with Tom Hanks or Nick Saban finally capturing them and making them pay for what they did.

LSU

The Tigers had some scary moments in the second half against La. Tech but were eventually able to take care of business. No matter what happens the rest of the way in the SEC, after beating La. Tech and SE Louisiana, LSU can definitively say they are the best team in the middle part of the state of Louisiana. And that’s not something to take lightly.

Mississippi State

The Bulldogs lost a disappointing one last week to Kentucky, but that can all be forgiven if they beat Dan Mullen on Saturday night. State fans are taking this one seriously and sharpening their cowbells like their Gimli sharpening his ax.

Missouri

Missouri fans are very happy they were able to hang in with Georgia and make Bulldog Nation super paranoid for three hours. If only their receivers were able to figure out a way to catch passes from Drew Lock, then this team could be really good.

Ole Miss

Ole Miss fans thought their punishment from the NCAA would just be scholarship losses and/or postseason bans, but it turns out the real punishment is having to watch this team play football. After being tied with Kent State at the half last week, Ole Miss fans finally agreed with Mississippi State fans that they should have gotten the death penalty.

South Carolina

The Gamecocks quietly took care of Vanderbilt last week. It might seem like an uneven start to the year for Carolina, but Muschamp has this team right in his sweet spot: somehow eeking out 7 or 8 wins and getting to play Iowa in the Capital One Bowl. That dream is fully alive.

Tennessee

Even by Tennessee standards, that loss to Florida was a bad one. The good news is it’s only Jeremy Pruitt’s first year and they have plenty of time to dust themselves off this week before they play … *checks schedule* … Oh, no ….

Texas A&M

The Aggies notched their fourth consecutive moral victory to start the season, and continued Jimbo Fisher’s 56 consecutive moral victory streak. They look to extend it again this week against Arkansas, a team that should have traded its morals for victories a long time ago.

Vanderbilt

Yeah that was a bad loss last week against South Carolina, but remember when Vandy almost beat Notre Dame? Ahhh, those were the glory days. This week they play Tennessee State, which has suddenly become Vandy’s biggest in-state rival.
