Let’s face it, this week stinks. You know it, I know it, Paul Finebaum knows it. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some interesting storylines heading into cupcake week. Like, how will Feleipe Franks respond after his big victory over Florida fans last week? Or, is Tennessee good now?

Let’s check in on each SEC school and see how the fan bases are feeling heading into Week 12:

Alabama

Last week’s game was closer than Bama fans are used to, even though nobody has scored a point against Alabama in what feels like decades. Although these days, Bama fans are busy pretending they’re not freaking out about Tua’s knee. He’s fine, right? Everything’s still perfect???

Arkansas

Every week the Razorbacks are inching closer and closer to that mid-level SEC team they are destined to be. After giving LSU quite a scare, they’re looking to upset Mississippi State in one of the very few games this week that’s not completely unwatchable.

Auburn

The Tigers turned in a completely uninspired performance, but as Cam Newton might say, it was a business decision. Gus might be on his way out the door at the end of the season, despite what he mumbles to himself on the sideline. This week, though, Auburn plays Liberty, which accurately describes how Auburn fans will feel if they get a new coach this offseason.

Florida

The Gators turned in the perfect Will Muschamp revenge game, by making it seem like he had everything figured out and on the right track before it all came crashing down. Florida kept its hopes alive for a NY6 bowl appearance, and should have no problems winning out with their only games left being a total cupcake and also Idaho.

Georgia

After a bit of a bumpy stretch in the middle of the season, the Bulldogs seem to be back on track and full steam ahead toward the match of the titans in Atlanta. The game against Auburn wasn’t very eventful, but it was certainly useful in answering the much-discussed UGA quarterback battle: Rodrigo Blankenship is not the answer at QB.

Kentucky

Kentucky is back! That’s OK though, UK fans can always play the memories of the past few months for free in their mind, and they still get the opportunity to take out all of their pain on a helpless Louisville team, so it’s not all bad.

LSU

Even though they got the victory, last week’s game against Arkansas wasn’t very fun for LSU, and especially wasn’t fun for those who bet on LSU. But the Tigers can still win out, go to a bowl, and end the season on a high note — which for LSU means signing another Big Ten backup quarterback.

Mississippi State

The Bulldogs held the Crimson Tide to their lowest point total of the season, which would have been great if Mississippi State could have managed to score literally any points at all. But as far as 24-0 losses go, that wasn’t a bad one. Now they get to end the season by scraping the very bottom of the SEC very barrel against Arkansas and Ole Miss.

Missouri

It’s written law somewhere that win or lose, no matter who they’re playing, every Mizzou game must deliver as much stress and heartache as possible to Missouri fans. That was the case against Vandy but the Tigers came out on top and are now bowl eligible. Now they get to prepare for the CBS Game of the Week against Tennessee! Sure it’s definitely the least exciting week of the year, but just let Missouri have this.

Ole Miss

The Rebels lost to Texas A&M last week, but at least they’re one game closer to this season being over!!

South Carolina

Who could have foreseen a Will Muschamp team delivering a disappointing performance in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Nonetheless, the Gamecocks still have a chance to wash away all the missteps from this year by beating Clemson … (studio audience erupts into laughter).

Tennessee

The Vols got a big win over Kentucky last week and things might finally be turning around in Knoxville. I mean, sure, we’ve heard that about seven times over the past 15 years or so and all of those turned out to be false alarms. But this time they beat Kentucky. You can’t fake that.

Texas A&M

There’s a familiar smell wafting through College Station. Is it?? Yes! It’s another 8-5 season taking shape for the Aggies. They haven’t had one of those since way back in 2016, and also in 2015, and of course in 2014. It doesn’t matter who you root for, you have to be happy to see Texas A&M reliving their glory days.

Vanderbilt

The Commodores are a couple plays in a few games from completely altering the college football landscape. But that’s what Vanderbilt is there for. There is good news though, they can win out and still be bowl eligible and can also sit back and laugh that no team has come as close to beating Notre Dame as they have.
