In a world where Alabama hangs on to its College Football Playoff hopes by the week, Saturday’s 90 Mile Drive with Mississippi State may be the game that solidifies the school as a top-tier contender.
Okay, maybe Don LaFontaine said it better, but there is plenty on the line for the Crimson Tide this week. At 6-1, the team snuck into the fourth spot in the initial 2015 CFP ranking last Tuesday. That was prior to Saturday’s decimation of then-unbeaten LSU, which will strip the Tigers of their No. 2 CFP positioning after the second announcement later tonight.
And while a loss to the Bulldogs this weekend could have just as big of an effect on where the Crimson Tide stand, prices for Alabama tickets to Saturday’s game have remained firm on the secondary market.
According to TiqIQ the average price for Mississippi State tickets vs Alabama is currently $202.14. That marks just a 5.4% drop from last Tuesday’s median price of $213.62. If looking just to get into Wade Davis Stadium, the cheapest ticket is now listed for $127.
In fact, there hasn’t been much movement on the secondary market for Saturday’s game since August, and even then the shift wasn’t monumental. As single-game tickets began to flood the market prior to the start of the season, the game’s average fell from $262.99 to $203.29 between August 16 and 17, a 22.7% tumble. That average has stuck over the last three months despite both teams’ Top 25 CFP ranking.

There is a considerable year-over-year ticket price disparity when compared to last season’s game at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. With the Crimson Tide taking their seventh straight victory over the Bulldogs in the annual rivalry game, the average secondary market price for tickets was $362.35. That makes this Saturday’s game 44.2% cheaper. The get-in price last year was $193.
The last game in Starkville between Mississippi State and Alabama came in 2013, and that game served as the second cheapest of the rivalry since at least 2010. That year Mississippi State vs Alabama tickets averaged $190.49 on the secondary market. That is trumped only by 2011’s affair in Mississippi, where tickets owned a median price of $151.45.
Alabama has gotten the better of Mississippi State in recent history and has won each meeting since 2008. The Crimson Tide own a dominant 77-18-3 record all-time over the Bulldogs in 100 total meetings.
