Tim Brando has dropped his preseason top 10 and, not surprisingly, it’s designed to get your attention, be it negative or positive.

Brando has Ohio State starting the season at the No. 1 spot. The Buckeyes went 11-2 last season beating Utah in the Rose Bowl and finishing No. 6 in the AP Poll and No. 5 in the Coaches Poll. Quarterback C.J. Stroud and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba are widely considered the best passer-receiver combo in the nation.

Alabama and Georgia, participants in last year’s CFP national championship game, come in at Nos. 2 and No. 3 respectively and Big XII/Sugar Bowl champion Baylor is fourth while Pac-12 champion Utah is fifth.

Brando is clearly high on the squad Dave Doeren’s has built at N.C. State and the one Lincoln Riley left behind in Oklahoma. He also plugs Houston in at No. 10 to be this year’s “Group of Five program to watch”.
