Former Florida quarterback and SEC Nation host Tim Tebow served as a guest on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Friday afternoon, and Tebow was quick to note the difference in his former coach, Urban Meyer, and Alabama coach Nick Saban when the comparison came up.

Tebow referred to Saban’s ability to stay consistent, despite always being ranked at the top of the AP Top 25 heading into each season.

“Complacency sets in, and that’s probably the hardest thing to fight at the top of the mountain,” he said.

“It’s still learning how to have that strain and that focus as much as you were when you were trying to get to the top of the mountain.

“And that’s why what Coach Saban has done here is so incredible because they’ve been able to sustain success, and that’s always harder than to just get to having success, to getting to the top of the mountain.

“And it’s something you have to give Nick Saban a lot of credit because he’s found a way to be able to do that. Look at what Coach (Urban) Meyer has been able to do. He’s been able to get to the top of the mountain a lot of times, but hasn’t been able to sustain it as much — and a lot of other coaches in college football. The Chip Kellys and the different ones that can get there, but how do you keep it there?

“That’s why I think Nick Saban has separated himself.”

Saban has certainly done well with the Crimson Tide, bringing five national championships to Tuscaloosa since he started in 2007. Meyer, meanwhile, began his Florida career in 2005 and won two national championships in five years.

Now, there is a more stark difference off the field as well. Saban enters this week as respected as ever, while Meyer is just coming off a three-game suspension at Ohio State after a sexual assault scandal that rocked the college football world.
