The uncommitted 5-stars will get the most attention in the waning days of this recruiting season. But the 4-stars are more likely to fill out the depth chart and stay four years to provide a program’s foundation.

String together a group of 4-stars and look back in three or four years and you’ll see a majority of the lineup filled with them. Most of them have more than 20 scholarship offers, but multiple SEC schools are often among the finalists.

Even this late in the recruiting calendar, there are a host of 4-stars from across the country not yet committed to an SEC school. Their pledge would go a long way toward solidifying a top-five or top-10 ranking and set the stage for a trip to Atlanta, or more.

Here are 9 of the best uncommitted 4-star recruits in this class who have listed at least one SEC school among their finalists:

(All predicted commitments are from the 247 Sports Composite Crystal Ball.)

  1. Austin Jackson, of Phoenix, is a 6-foot-6, 280-pound offensive tackle that Texas A&M and Alabama are in the mix for with several Pac-12 schools, including Southern Cal, Washington, Arizona State and Oregon. He’s the top-ranked player in Arizona and eighth-best offensive tackle in America. He’s ranked 35th overall in America.
  2. K’Lavon Chaisson, a defensive end from Houston, lists LSU among his final teams to consider on a list that includes Texas, the leader, Baylor, Oklahoma and Southern Cal. He’s the 37th-best player in America.
  3. Leonard Warner, from Snellville, Ga., is an inside linebacker listed at 6-4, 226 pounds. He’s 17th ranked overall in Georgia, seventh at inside linebacker. The 247 Sports Crystal Ball predicts Warner will sign with Georgia, though Georgia Tech, Florida State and Stanford were expected to be at the top of the list.
  4. Markaviest Bryant of Cordele, Ga., is a 6-4, 225-pound defensive end, and the 19th overall player in Georgia, 15th overall player at his position in America. Bryant is also expected to sign with Georgia, though Auburn, Alabama and LSU are also in the mix.
  5. Tyler Taylor, a Buford, Ga., resident is another lean to Georgia as an inside linebacker. He’s listed at 6-2, 230, and is the 25th-ranked player in Georgia, 10th overall at his position. Taylor recently narrowed his list to Auburn and LSU.
  6. Henry Ruggs III of Montgomery, Ala., is a 6-foot, 175-pound wide receiver and the second-ranked player in Alabama, 11th-best wide receiver in the country. Ruggs seems a lock to Alabama, though Florida and Florida State were believed to be finalists.
  7. Tedarrell Slaton, an offensive guard at 6-4, 360 pounds, is the 12th-ranked player in Florida and from Fort Lauderdale. Florida appears to have the best chance, though Florida State and Michigan are next in line.
  8. Jarez Parks is the 17th-ranked player in Florida as a defensive end. He’s listed at 6-2, 253 pounds and from Sebastian, Fla. His decision appears to be down to Alabama and Florida, with the Crimson Tide holding a wide edge.
  9. James Robinson, a wide receiver from Lakeland, Fla., is down to Clemson and Florida. He’s the 21st-best player in the Sunshine State and 14th-best wide receiver in America.
