Many NFL fans and experts have been calling for quarterback Baker Mayfield to start since the beginning of the season. After his first real NFL action on Thursday night, he is now the new favorite to win NFL rookie of the year.

BetOnline.AG updated its odds Friday with Mayfield leading the field. Mayfield, who won the Heisman Trophy last year, went 17 for 23 with 201 yards and led the Cleveland Browns back from a 14-0 deficit to win the team’s first game since Dec. 24, 2016.

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold and Saquon Barkley came in with the second and third-best odds to win the honor.

From the SEC, former Georgia and New England Patriots running back Sony Michel received the best odds in the updated field Friday. Michel has 34 rushing yards and one catch for seven yards in two games.

Michel’s former teammate at Georgia and Browns running back Nick Chubb received 50-to-1 odds to win NFL rookie of the year. That ranked tied for 12th overall and fourth-best among former SEC players.

Former Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley and former Auburn running back Kerryon Johnson came in tied with the second-best odds among players from the SEC at 33-to-1. They were also tied with quarterback Josh Rosen for the eighth-highest odds overall.
