Utah HS AD stops football game to enforce mask, social distancing requirements
Throughout the past few months, administrators and sports league officials have publicly warned that sports are only possible if measures such as wearing a mask in public and social distancing are properly followed.
Recently in Utah, a high school athletic director observed fans not following game policies (such as many students sitting closely together in the stands, other fans not sitting in assigned sections) and stopped the game to address the crowd, not allowing play to resume until the fans cooperated with the request. Stadium tweeted a video of American Fork High School AD Jeremy Lewis stopping the game between the American Fork Cavemen and Timpview Thunderbirds to address the crowd over a microphone. A sideline reporter relayed the information to the TV audience.

Utah is one of the few western states holding a fall high school football season. American Fork went on to win 31-21 over Timpview. American Fork’s games will certainly be receiving extra attention after making national headlines for Thursday night’s contest.
