Video captures heartfelt moment when PA announcer calls his son's first collegiate TD
East Carolina quarterback Holton Ahlers scored his first collegiate touchdown with his dad in attendance on Saturday. In fact, Ahlers’ dad contributed to the score in a special way.
Ahlers’ dad was serving as the public address announcer at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium for East Carolina’s home game against North Carolina and made the call over the stadium speakers when his son scored on a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
Ahlers helped the Pirates notch an upset 41-19 victory over the Tar Heels for his team’s first win of the season.

Ahlers contributed at quarterback after not playing in ECU’s season-opening 28-23 loss to North Carolina A&T. He made only one pass attempt, an incompletion, but he rushed for 36 yards on eight carries with two touchdowns.
