UCF placekicker Donald De La Haye was recently requested by the NCAA to stop making videos for his popular YouTube channel Deestroying.

Due to current NCAA rules banning student-athletes from profiting from their likeness in any way, the popularity of De La Haye’s YouTube channel could be considered a violation of these rules. As pointed out by Stewart Mandel the latest FOX Sports The Audible Podcast, it’s interesting to note that while the athletes themselves are not permitted to make and publish these videos, schools are allowed to use the athletes in the exact manner and profit from the videos.

Here’s a recent example of the hypocrisy, as Northwestern made this video showcasing two football players attempting to recreate the basketball team’s game-winning shot over Michigan.

De La Haye’s response to the NCAA’s request was pretty great, he made another video for his YouTube channel. While the video itself is humorous, it’s obvious the UCF kicker doesn’t see anything funny about the NCAA’s request asking him to surrender his passion of making the popular videos.
