Vanderbilt wanted Bama.

And the Commodores got ’em.

With just under four minutes in the first quarter, Alabama had the ball 61 yards away from Vandy’s end zone. That changed quickly.

Damien Harris, a junior running back, took an inside handoff, bounced outside and didn’t stop until he had crossed the Commodores’ goal line. After Andy Pappanastos knocked in the extra point, Alabama held a 14-0 lead with 3:32 left in the opening period.

Before the first quarter had even finished, however, Harris added another touchdown run, this one from the 2-yard line following a Vanderbilt fumble, to extend the Crimson Tide’s advantage to 21-0 with 42 seconds to play in the first quarter.
