The SEC made several big-time hires this offseason, with Florida, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Mississippi State and Arkansas all hiring new coaches.

However, outside of Jimbo Fisher, the SEC didn’t hire many big-name coaches (other than Dan Mullen, who was already an SEC coach).

Because of that, FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd thinks the Big Ten still holds the advantage in terms of coaching prowess. As you can see in the clip below, Cowherd says the Big Ten is the best conference in college football:

“The Big Ten now has the best coaches in college football,” he says. “When you get new information, you should change your opinion. Yes, I used to make fun of the Big Ten, now I don’t because they made moves. (The SEC) may have the best team in Alabama, but it’s no longer the deepest, most-balanced, most-talented conference in terms of game day preparation.”

Cowherd cites coaches like Urban Meyer, Jim Harbaugh, Paul Chryst, Scott Frost and even Lovie Smith as examples of great coaches the Big Ten has.

Of course, the SEC has Nick Saban, but the conference’s other coaches will have a lot to prove heading into 2018.
