Dan Patrick used a segment Thursday of the Dan Patrick Show to open up about some health problems he’s facing.

Patrick revealed that he’s been dealing with Polymyalgia Rheumatica, which is severe joint pain, for seven years. Patrick started taking prednisone, which helped take away his pain, but the effects were really bad. It eventually led him into depression.

“There’s something I wanted to bring up,” Patrick said to start the segment. “It’s had to do with my health over the past seven years. There are moments on this show when I have had memory loss, and I’ll tell you what it’s due to. There are times when I feel like my mind and my mouth are not working together. I think you’ve come to expect me to perform at a high level. I was just going to pull the curtain back because I don’t know where I’m headed over the next five months.

“I was depressed. I would have suicidal thoughts,” he later added. “I would get emotional and cry for no reason.”

Patrick said he even debated ending the show entirely. Thankfully, he didn’t reach that conclusion.

We wish Patrick all the best, and you can watch the full segment below:
