The Philadelphia Eagles signed rookie K Jake Elliott off the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad a couple of weeks ago, and that move paid off in a huge way on Sunday against the New York Giants.

Though Elliott missed a 52-yard kick earlier in the game, he got a chance to redeem himself from 61 yards with the score tied at 24-24.

With his parents watching from the stands in Philly, Elliott drilled the long game-winning kick, sending the home fans into a frenzy of excitement.

Watch below as Elliott’s parents celebrate their son’s heroics, with Elliott’s dad barely able to contain the pride he has in his son:

In the aftermath of the huge kick, the rookie said his heroics hadn’t really set in yet, but described how he felt as the ball was in the air (via Pro Football Talk):

“It’s kind of all a blur to me,” Elliott said. “I don’t really know; all I know is that the ball was in the air for a really long time and [it was] real close to that right upright.”

Elliott will be the toast of the town all week, as his kick helped the Eagles improve to 2-1. With clutch performances like Sunday’s, Elliott could quickly turn into one of the more-reliable kickers in the league.
