Tim Brando took a minute to stand up for the Big Ten and Notre Dame, while he also criticized the SEC for its schedule this week, and overall conference schedule.

Four SEC teams will take on FCS opponents. Four more will take on foes from Group of Five. There are only three conference games on the docket.

Brando, a Fox Sports play-by-play broadcaster, called the SEC, “the most powerful conference in America,” but will have just three games involving Power Five teams. Brando believes it’s something the College Football Playoff committee chooses to ignore.

“There are a couple of other games involving Group of Five, or FCS teams, involved in the SEC. Nothing will be said about it, and nothing will be said about the fact that the SEC only plays eight conference games. But they do,” Brando said. “Every conference isn’t created equal, nor are the schedules of those teams in those conferences.”

He then said there are “hiccup games” ahead in the Big Ten, including Michigan against Indiana, and Ohio State against Maryland.

“You could say, well, they should win those games, but really,” Brando said. “Is that like playing who the SEC powerhouses are playing? I don’t think so.”

Brando added that he believes Notre Dame is on a roll to take a spot away from those Power 5 teams.

“Go Irish, to make sure the pure playoff privilege have one power conference team that’s left out,” he said.
