Arden Conyers has announced his commitment, making it two in a row for Lamont Paris and South Carolina basketball.

A day after receiving a verbal commitment from 3-star forward Collin Murray-Boyles, the Gamecocks received a pledge from 3-star wing Arden Conyers from Westwood in Blythewood, South Caroina.

Both Murray-Boyles and Conyers are from South Carolina and Westwood coach John Combs told Lou Bezjak from The State that Paris is trying to build a program with local talent.

“The staff wants guys, especially in-state guys, that want to be at South Carolina. Arden wants to be a South Carolina guy. He wants to play at a high level.”

Conyers, listed at 6-foot-6 and 180 pounds, recently took official visits to Furman, Georgia Southern and Winthrop before choosing his South Carolina. He is the second verbal commitment in the class.

“One thing that they really love about me is that I can shoot the ball,” Conyers said. “Plus I’m very versatile offensively and defensively.”
