Last month, the South Carolina Gamecocks hired Dan Werner to be their quarterbacks coach, and he’ll be tasked with developing Jake Bentley into the star quarterback he can become.

Fortunately for coach Will Muschamp and the Gamecocks, Werner has a track record of getting the most out of his quarterbacks, dating back to his days at Miami and Ole Miss.

One of Werner’s former quarterbacks while at Ole Miss, Bo Wallace, told The State that he thinks Bentley should be very excited to learn from Werner:

“I know that Jake should be excited about who he gets to be in the meeting room with every day,” Wallace said. “I think he’s going to take his game to another level. He’s already a great quarterback, and if he just listens to Dan, I think he’s going to have a really good season next year and be really efficient.”

Wallace set several Ole Miss records while working with Werner, so it’ll be interesting to see if he has similar success with Bentley.

That will be the big question heading into 2018, as Bentley needs to take a step forward after a disappointing finish to the 2017 season.
