The Las Vegas Raiders shared some unfortunate news on Tuesday: Tyrell Williams’ season is over. The wide receiver has been placed on season-ending injured reserve after suffering a torn labrum. On Twitter, there was a common reaction to the news: Bryan Edwards season (or “szn” as they say on social media).

The rookie wide receiver out of South Carolina figures to step in for Williams in Jon Gruden’s offense. Edwards was the buzz of NFL, Raiders and fantasy football Twitter communities Tuesday afternoon.

Coming out of South Carolina as a second-team All-SEC selection, the Raiders selected Edwards with the No. 81 overall pick in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Edwards finished his South Carolina career as the Gamecocks’ all-time leader in receptions (234) and receiving yards (3,045). His 22 receiving touchdowns are second-best in school history.

Edwards and the Raiders open the season at the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 13.
