GG Jackson will be declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft.

The 6-foot-9 forward announced his decision on Friday via an Instagram Live post. The announcement was followed up by a Gamecock tweet captioned “Go be great 23.”

Jackson thanked his fans, family, and coaches, while stating ” the next step of my journey is here, and I will be declaring for the 2023 NBA draft.

“I want to thank God and my family for always being there for me,” Jackson wrote. “I also want to thank coach Paris and the rest of the staff at South Carolina for giving me the opportunity to live my dream playing in my home city and state.

“To Gamecock Nation, the best fans in the country, thank you for your unwavering support. I am a Gamecock for life. The next step in my journey is here, and I will be declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft.”

Jackson was a former 2024 prospect before reclassifying to 2023.  He the nation’s former No. 1 overall PF recruit who committed to North Carolina, but then flipped his commitment to South Carolina ahead of the start of the season.

At 18, Jackson is the youngest player in the country. His age didn’t stop the standout freshman from becoming the team’s leading scorer this season. The forward averaged 15.4 points per game with 38.4 percent shooting and 5.9 rebounds per game, good enough for ninth position in the SEC.

Jackson is expected to be a 1st round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
