After opening the 2018 season this past weekend, South Carolina immediately enters conference play when it hosts Georgia on Saturday.

Not only is the matchup with the Bulldogs a tough one, but they have dominated the rivalry series with the Gamecocks. The series between the two schools dates back to 1894, and Georgia leads it, 50-18-2.

Although it’s the conference opener against a rival, South Carolina quarterback Jake Bentley said on Tuesday that the Gamecocks can’t treat it differently.

“Growing up just watching, it is a big deal to a lot of people, but for us, we have to prepare same way every week and we can’t get too wrapped up in the hype,” Bentley told the media, including Jeff Owens of Spurs & Feathers. “We have to prepare the right way.”

South Carolina is coming off a 49-15 win over Coastal Carolina in its season opener. Bentley threw for 250 yards and four touchdowns in the victory.

The Gamecocks and Bulldogs will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday.
