Josiah Thompson, a Dillon (South Carolina) standout, is staying home. The blue-chip offensive lineman has committed to play for South Carolina.

Thompson publicly pledged to play for Shane Beamer’s program in a Friday morning ceremony.

Thompson is listed at 6-6, 280 pounds. On the 247Sports composite rankings, Thompson is rated 4-stars, the No. 2 player in South Carolina, No. 5 offensive tackle and No. 73 prospect overall nationally in the 2024 recruiting class.

During his recruitment, Thompson has picked up 16 scholarship offers. In January, he named a top 6 of South Carolina, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Miami and Tennessee.

With Thompson on board, the Gamecocks now have 7 commitments for their 2024 recruiting class. Thompson is the second top-5 tackle to pledge to South Carolina. Kam Pringle (No. 3 OT, No. 50 overall) committed to the Gamecocks back on Jan. 22.

Thompson is set to play in the All-American Bowl all-star game after his senior season. Highlights from his junior season can be viewed below, via Hudl:
