Kai Kroeger had a huge game against Vanderbilt, and now he’s being honored for it.

The South Carolina punter was honored by the Augusta Sports Council and the Ray Guy Award as the Punter of the Week for Week 7 games. Kroeger was chosen from “Ray’s 8” announced on Monday. It’s the second award for Kroeger in as many days. On Monday, Kroeger was named the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against Vanderbilt.

Kroeger had the best game of his career in Saturday’s 21-20 win over Vanderbilt. Kroeger had 4 punts for 227 yards, a 56.8-yard average with all 4 going for 50-plus yards (54, 70, 53 and 50). What’s more, 3 of the sophomore’s 4 punts were downed inside the 20.

That career-long 70-yard punt was the longest for a Gamecock since Joseph Charlton had a 73-yarder in 2017. The Commodores had no return yards, so the Gamecocks flipped the field 4 times with a net of 56.8 yards per punt.

Kroeger and the Gamecocks will play Texas A&M Saturday night on the SEC Network.
