Students and other visitors to South Carolina’s campus will have another place to use for photo opportunities.

South Carolina unveiled a statue of Cocky, the costumed Gamecock mascot, during an on-campus ceremony.

The statue, which is made out of bronze, depicts Cocky sitting on a bench, with one wing resting on a stack of books and the other giving South Carolina’s “Spurs Up” hand gesture. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 773 pounds, the statue was sculpted by USC alumnus Robert Allison and paid for with private funds. According to a university release, prior to Friday, South Carolina was the lone SEC school that did not have a statue of its mascot on its campus.

The statue is located in front of Davis College in downtown Columbia, South Carolina.

And South Carolina will get another statue once the football season ends. This one, a larger bronze piece featuring a gamecock, will be installed outside Williams-Brice Stadium.
