Marcus Satterfield is facing a daunting task this week when Georgia comes to Williams-Brice Stadium. The Gamecocks are last in the SEC in rushing offense at 59.5 yards per game, and 4 touchdowns. Conversely, South Carolina is fourth in the SEC in passing yards at 301 per game.

“We’re going to do whatever it takes to move the ball and score touchdowns,” the offensive coordinator said. “Like we did in the bowl game, we have to be creative and find ways to win games. We understand we have to run the football a lot more consistently to stay on the field longer, and help out our defense.”

South Carolina is last in the SEC in third down conversions, at 6-for-24.

“I was raising a stink about that yesterday in our staff meeting, we’ve gotta be better on third down,” Satterfield said. “We can’t go 3-for-10 on third down, not with the quarterback, receivers and tight ends that we have. We’ve got to have a good plan and really start executing at a high level.”

Satterfield said last week’s game didn’t leave much time to establish the run because scoring became a priority.

“I think it just comes down to me, I’ve got to give our guys more runs,” Satterfield said. “To start a game, so that they can get a feel for it.”
