The Seattle Seahawks beat the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Wild Card playoff round last weekend, thanks in large part to the fact that Eagles QB Carson Wentz was hurt early in the game.

The hit that caused the injury came from former South Carolina star Jadeveon Clowney, who tackled Wentz from behind while he was running.

Many felt Clowney’s hit was dirty, but the NFL apparently doesn’t think so. Per reports, including one from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Clowney wasn’t fined for the play:

Clowney had an explanation for the tackle, per USA TODAY:

“I was just playing fast, and he turned like he was running the ball, so I was trying to get him down. It was a bang-bang play. I don’t intend to hurt anybody in this league, let me just put that out there. I’ve been down the injury road; it’s not fun.”

Clowney will play in the NFC Divisional Round game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.
