What Will Muschamp has done at South Carolina in such a short time should be celebrated.

Muschamp inherited a mess in Columbia (3-9 team), but he’s turned things around in a big way … and quickly.

Sure, he’s benefited from a rather weak SEC East, but he’s proven that when he has a good QB, he can win football games. Muschamp will always put a good defensive product on the field, but it was the lack of offense — specifically the QB play — at Florida that eventually got him fired.

Muschamp led South Carolina to a 6-7 record in his first season, and now, the Gamecocks are sitting at 7-3 heading into Saturday’s game against Wofford. A second-place finish in the SEC East is certainly likely at this point, and what a cherry it would be to upset Clemson next Saturday.

According to a report by Josh Kendall at The State, citing sources, USC is set to give Muschamp a contract extension and raise by early December.

He’s currently making $3.1 million with the Gamecocks (and still being paid by Florida). Muschamp signed a five-year contract in December of 2015.

Coaching is a pretty good gig, huh?
