The South Carolina Gamecocks haven’t made as much progress on the offensive side of the ball as they’d hoped under their second year with Kurt Roper as the offensive coordinator.

Losing star WR Deebo Samuel to injury this year didn’t help, but QB Jake Bentley didn’t make as much of a jump as head coach Will Muschamp had hoped.

Now, Roper is likely to be let go, according to a report by USA TODAY’s Dan Wolken, who said there will be changes as soon as Wednesday in Columbia:

Roper was linked to the open job at Rice earlier this month, but didn’t get the position, even though Rice is his alma mater.

Now, he’ll be looking for another job without having the South Carolina position any longer. What happens next for him remains to be seen, but the Gamecocks seem prepared to look for a new coordinator.
