SEC fines have been a regular sight this season, most notably for Tennessee following the win over Alabama, but the Vols haven’t been the only one.

The SEC added to that ledger on Sunday afternoon when it announced that South Carolina and Vanderbilt were each fined for field-storming incidents after wins against Florida and Tennessee. There are 3 levels of fines: $50,000 for a first offense, $100,000 for a second and $250,000 for a third.

South Carolina will incur a fine of $100,000 for a second offense under the league’s access to competition area policy following its game Saturday against Tennessee. South Carolina was last fined for a violation following its men’s basketball game against Kentucky in 2014.

Vanderbilt will incur a fine of $250,000 for a third offense under the league’s access to competition area policy following its game Saturday against Florida. Vanderbilt was last fined for a violation following its men’s basketball game against Kentucky in 2016.

Fines levied against schools for violation of the access to competition area policy are deposited into the SEC Post-Graduate Scholarship Fund.

The SEC announced earlier this month that a working group on event security would review and update policies intended to address post-game spectator incursion on competition fields and courts in the SEC with any new regulations to be implemented for the 2023-24 athletic year.
