Shane Beamer was doused with a bucket on the sideline following South Carolina’s 30-24 win over Texas A&M on Saturday as the Gamecocks secured the program’s first-ever win over the Aggies before a spirited Williams-Brice Stadium.

“We tried to find every which way to give this game away, man,” Beamer told Cole Cubelic on the SEC Network. “But our kids, we’ve just got a bunch of fighters, that just keep playing. We talk about getting better as the game goes and winning this thing in the fourth quarter, and that’s what we did.”

Beamer then praised the Gamecocks fans for delivering a great atmosphere.

“This is the best environment in all of college football,” Beamer said. “At night when this place is rocking like this, they were an advantage. I told the team before the game, we can’t get out here and lose our minds, because the crowd’s not going to win the game for us. I think I screwed that up, I mean they helped us win that football game tonight, so I’m an idiot. I’m so happy for them. It’s been a long time not beating these guys and what a great team they have, and what a great team they have, to overcome a bad start that they had, tons of respect for them. Man, we’re going to enjoy the heck out of this one, we’ve got a lot to get better at. But just so, so happy for these guys.”
