It’s not often an SEC head coach steps up to help a member of his fan base get the day off to attend a sporting event.

That’s how committed Shane Beamer is to getting Gamecock fans to show up for the 2021 Garnet & Black Spring Game on Sunday.

This story all started on Thursday when South Carolina announced its upcoming spring game had to be moved from Saturday to Sunday due to a threat of thunderstorms this weekend. As one could have expected, the decision to move the game was going to mess with many fans’ schedules.

That certainly was the case for Justin Caudill, who managed to take this Saturday off from his job at DICK’S Sporting Goods in order to attend the game.

With the game being moved to Sunday at the last minute, Caudill asked Beamer for some help.

It didn’t take long for Beamer to step up and answer the call:

A day later, the official DICK’S Sporting Goods account was happy to announce Justin now has Sunday off so he can attend the spring game.

When Beamer says he really wants Gamecock fans to show up for the spring game this weekend, it’s nice to know he really means it. That’s exactly the type of enthusiasm South Carolina was hoping to get by hiring Beamer.
