Shane Beamer reacts to lopsided loss at Florida: 'You couldn't start the second half worse than we did'
Shane Beamer lamented the Gamecocks’ loss at Florida, and said “nobody was good enough” following the 38-6 loss to the Gators.
In a game that was difficult in a lot of areas, Beamer isolated on a sequence in the second half when the Gamecocks had 3 straight turnovers, and added, “You couldn’t start the second half worse than we did.”
Beamer was asked about Luke Doty coming in at quarterback, and he said it wasn’t the time for it, not that he necessarily wanted to preserve Doty’s redshirt.
South Carolina also dealt with the flu, as 9 players missed practice time because of it.

Beamer: Luke Doty has played in four games. He’s not adamant about preserving the redshirt, but wasn’t going to put him into tonight when the game was clearly over.

Beamer said with 3 mins left in a game that was already out of hand it wasn’t worth burning Doty’s redshirt.
Noted he’s not adamant about keeping that redshirt in tact, but it just wasn’t the right time for it.

Beamer asked if the gap between Spencer Rattler and Luke Doty is so wide that Doty won’t get a shot:
“I wouldn’t say that. Spencer’s certainly got to play better. Spencer also can’t do anything about the fumbles.”

Beamer said MarShawn Lloyd practiced on Tuesday. Went full-speed Wednesday.
Said that thigh contusion swelled up on Thursday and didn’t healthy enough to play tonight.

Beamer said nine guys missed practice time this week with the flu.
Vershon Lee being one of them.
