South Carolina will have a major challenge for its home finale when visiting No. 5 Tennessee comes to town. South Carolina coach Shane Beamer shared the latest injury update on a couple of key players.

Beamer has a good feeling that running backs MarShawn Lloyd (thigh bruise) and Christian Beal-Smith (undisclosed lower-body injury) will be available for the contest. Both players missed South Carolina’s 38-6 loss at Florida.

“I’m optimistic. Both of those guys told me in meetings they felt better,” Beamer said on his Sunday media teleconference. “CBS said he felt good. MarShawn told me today in the offensive meeting that he felt much, much better than what he felt on Thursday, when he wasn’t feeling well.”

Beamer outlined the itinerary to determine if they’ll be good to go.

“They really didn’t do anything tonight, tomorrow is their off day. Then, we’ll see where they are on Tuesday and Wednesday,” Beamer said. “I’m certainly optimistic that both those guys will be able to go.”

One-loss Tennessee is coming off a 66-24 rout vs. visiting Missouri in its home finale.

Tennessee leads the all-time series 28-10-2 vs. South Carolina, with wins in the last 3 meetings. Tennessee-South Carolina is slated for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff and will be televised on ESPN.
