It took South Carolina nearly halfway through the second half to really get going and seize control of the game against Ole Miss, but it finally did.

Thanks to the three-ball and Chris Silva, the Gamecocks beat the Rebels 85-84 Wednesday night to advance in the SEC Tournament.

The Gamecocks had five players finish in double figures, with forward Chris Silva leading the way with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard Frank Booker also finished with 21 points. Booker really got going in the second half from behind the arc, finishing 6-12 for three.

South Carolina shot 34 free throws; Silva was responsible for 20 of those attempts and had a team-high three blocks. Silva is so active on both ends of the floor, and he gave the Rebels trouble all night.

Ole Miss guard Breein Tyree led the Rebels with 18 points. As was the case all season, the Rebels just didn’t have enough to beat the Gamecocks.

South Carolina will play Arkansas Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT.
