South Carolina may have two players gaining an extra year of eligibility.

During his press conference on Tuesday, Gamecocks coach Will Muschamp said that the school will apply for an extra year for cornerback Nick Harvey and linebacker Eldridge Thompson.

Harvey transferred to South Carolina after four years at Texas A&M. He redshirted in 2017 before joining the Gamecocks as a graduate transfer. This season, Harvey had six tackles in four games before getting injured.

Thompson, a redshirt senior, had five tackles in three games before getting injured. He came to South Carolina in 2017 after previously playing for Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College.

The Gamecocks’ defense would certainly get a boost if these two defenders can return for the 2019 season.

Muschamp also said that offensive lineman Donnell Stanley, who is a junior, will walk during senior day festivities on Saturday, but that Stanley has not decided what he will do next season. Stanley plans to meet with the coaching staff after the year to decide if he will return to South Carolina.
