South Carolina has excelled with in-state recruits this recruiting cycle and the Gamecocks picked up one more in WR Ger-Cari Caldwell of Rock Hill.

Caldwell is the No. 8-ranked player in the Palmetto State and is listed at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, according to the 247Sports Composite. He had a reported 14 offers and committed to South Carolina over Tennessee. Caldwell’s commitment means South Carolina received pledges from 8 of the top 11 players in the state in this class.

His 247Sports evaluation described him this way: Possesses a long, angular build with a frame that should allow him to add mass once in a college strength and conditioning program. Two-sport athlete, also playing basketball and saw his football production take off as a senior. Long-strider with the ability to open up and pull away when in the open field. Natural, fluid mover who is effective after the catch. Shows the ability to track the ball downfield and come down with contested catches in-air.
