South Carolina is set to get two key defenders back from injury less than two weeks before the Gamecocks face North Carolina in Charlotte.

Defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson said Sherrod Greene and J.T. Ibe are in shape to be ready for the season opener on Aug. 31. Greene is back at practice and Robinson said he believes Ibe, who has missed time with a pectoral injury, will be ready by the season opener, Robinson told reporters, including David Cloninger of the Post & Courier.

Greene, a linebacker, has appeared in 23 games over the past two seasons with 15 starts. He earned a special teams award from spring practice. Ibe, a safety, is in his sixth year of eligibility after he joined the Gamecocks last season from Rice. He had a lingering knee injury last season that limited him to four games.
