South Carolina added to its 2021 class on Sunday.

Thompson (Alabaster, Alabama) ATH Sam Reynolds told Hale McGranahan of The Big Spur that he committed to South Carolina while visiting Will Muschamp’s program. The news broke not long after Muschamp tweeted indicating he had received a new commitment.

Reynolds is a two-way player. On 247Sports, he is listed as a safety prospect. On highlight video service Hudl, Reynolds lists himself as a wide receiver and cornerback. He indicated that he’ll be getting the ball at South Carolina.

“They want to get the ball to me, get me out in space and just let me run, make plays on special teams,” Reynolds told McGranahan.

South Carolina is the first Power 5 program to extend a scholarship offer to Reynolds. Middle Tennessee, North Alabama, Samford and Troy are his four other scholarship football offers. McGranahan notes that Colorado State has offered Reynolds in track. His personal best track times are 6.93-second 60-meter dash and 10.76 seconds in the 100 meters.

Reynolds, who does not have a 247Sports Composite rating, is commitment No. 2 for South Carolina’s 2021 class. In January, the Gamecocks landed a verbal pledge from 3-star CB Demarko Williams out of Georgia.
