South Carolina’s 2018 recruiting class got bigger in a number of ways Thursday following the commitment of offensive lineman Wyatt Campbell. The 6-foot-7, 290-pound in-state native becomes the eighth prospect to pledge to the Gamecocks latest recruiting class.

Campbell is rated as a three-star prospect, the No. 98 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 20 overall recruit from the state of South Carolina according to 247Sports Composite Ratings. He chose the Gamecocks over offers from Duke, Louisville, Maryland, Virginia Tech and Virginia among others.

He announced his commitment to South Carolina on Twitter:

Of the eight recruits currently pledged to South Carolina in the 2018 recruiting class, three are offensive linemen. Campbell joins Tennessee native Maxwell Iyama and Carolina native Hank Manos as lineman expected to suit up in Columbia following the upcoming season.

It didn’t take head coach Will Muschamp long to respond, as the Gamecock leader expressed his joy soon after Campbell’s commitment.
