Former South Carolina director of football operations Robbie Liles is leaving his position to pursue other opportunities not football-related, so coach Will Muschamp has made a hire to replace the outgoing Liles.

According to a release from the school on Monday, the Gamecocks are bringing in George Wynn to fill the position.

Muschamp worked with Wynn during his time as Florida’s head coach, and said he’s excited to have his former colleague joining him in Columbia:

“Robbie Liles is a great Gamecock having been part of the football program for 17 years,” said Muschamp. “He helped make my transition seamless and I appreciate all that he has done. We will certainly miss Robbie and (his wife) Lauren, and wish them all the best as they begin a new chapter in their lives.

“I’m excited to be able to fill his position by adding George Wynn to our staff. Having worked with George previously, I know he will be a tremendous asset for our program moving forward.”

Wynn has been at Florida since 2011 and also has stops at Arizona State and Texas on his resume.

He’ll fill an important role for the Gamecocks moving forward, and it sounds like he has the complete confidence of Muschamp and his staff.
