The South Carolina Gamecocks don’t have much depth in the secondary, a problem that dates back to last year.

Therefore, coach Will Muschamp is being forced to shuffle some players around this summer in preparation for fall camp.

During an appearance on “Talking Sports” on 620-AM in Columbia on Tuesday morning, Muschamp said redshirt freshman CB Tavyn Jackson is making a move to safety ahead of fall camp (via The State):

“(Tavyn) Jackson is a guy we are going to look at safety,” Muschamp said. “We have to be able to find some more bodies there that can play championship football.”

Jackson took a redshirt last fall, but back in the 2017 recruiting class, he was a 3-star corner out of Florida.

Whether he can make an impact at safety this fall remains to be seen, but at least he’s giving the team some depth at a position of depth.
