Stone Blanton made his college announcement at his school on Monday morning before fellow classmates and local media, and he chose between 4 SEC schools.

The 6-foot-2 and 220 pound linebacker, who is a 4-star recruit out of Madison, Mississippi (Madison-Ridgeland Academy), and an Under Armour All-American, said that he would commit to the Gamecocks over Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Blanton also said he plans to play baseball in college. He is rated the No. 36 linebacker in the class of 2022, and the No. 9 player in the state of Mississippi, according to the 247Sports Composite.

He had a reported 21 offers, and was recruited by defensive coordinator Clayton White.

“I also want to say thank you to the coaches who recruited me and spent a lot of hours with me over the last year,” he said. “They’ve really been amazing to me and my family, they’ve always been there for me and taught me a lot about football and a lot about life. So I couldn’t be anymore thankful to them. With that being said, I’ll be playing football and baseball for the next 3 to 4 years at South Carolina.”
