South Carolina’s quarterback room is in good hands for potentially the next two seasons with Jake Bentley in total control of the offense in Columbia but looking ahead to his potential heir should give Gamecock fans plenty of reason for optimism whenever Bentley’s college career comes to an end.

Despite the overtures by many of the nation’s best programs this spring, Southern California native Ryan Hilinski has been very outgoing regarding the level of his commitment to Will Muschamp’s program. Outside of his many trips to Columbia this spring, the South Carolina quarterback commit has been very vocal in trying to help the Gamecocks land each and every prospect the program is attempting to land in recruiting for the 2019 recruiting cycle.

While his fever for South Carolina football is reason enough for some excitement, the real jubilation from Gamecock fans should be coming for Hilinski’s talent with a football in his hands. He’s not only excelled on the field when it matters most, and against some of the toughest competition the nation has to offer in all of high school football, but in the offseason passing circuit, too.

The latest example of this comes from The Opening Finals in Arlington. Hilinski’s 7-on-7 team hit the field on Monday and the South Carolina commit delivered when the spotlight was shining the brightest on him.

Check out this fantastic throw for a touchdown Hilinski delivered:

Here’s that play from another angle:

This touchdown shows off a few of Hilinski’s traits as his mobility, accuracy on the run and touch are all displayed on this one play.

Keep in mind his doing this against some of the nation’s best defensive backs with receivers he only has a few days worth of experience with. While he doesn’t have far to go from being the nation’s No. 1 quarterback prospect, Hilinski is already ranked as the nation’s No. 2 pro-style passer, there’s a chance his performance at The Opening Finals elevates him to the top spot when the next set of rankings are released.
