Will Muschamp discusses status of transfer DL Josh Belk
You can bet the South Carolina Gamecocks were also excited when former 5-star WR Demetris Robertson was cleared to play for the Georgia Bulldogs this week.
No, not because they are happy for their SEC East rivals, but rather, excited for the potential that it brings to their own squad.
That’s because the Gamecocks have a former 5-star player of their own waiting to be cleared by the NCAA. On Saturday, coach Will Muschamp said the Gamecocks haven’t heard anything from the NCAA about Belk, but are confident he’ll be cleared based on the Robertson situation and others:
Muschamp on Belk: Haven't gotten any feedback from NCAA at this time. "We feel good about where things are heading," based on the trend shown by UGa, UF, etc.

Per 247Sports, Belk was the No. 1 defensive tackle in the 2017 class. He enrolled at Clemson, but has now transferred to South Carolina.
Getting him would be a huge boost to the South Carolina defense, and at this point, there’s no reason to think Belk won’t soon be eligible for the 2018 season.
Muschamp added that Belk is going through the acclimatization process with the team:
As said yesterday, Josh Belk has to go through the acclimation process. He'll be in shells two more days and then be able to go full pads.
