South Carolina started on the mountaintop with big wins over NC State and Missouri but were humbled Saturday night by Kentucky.

Gamecocks coach Will Muschamp spoke with members of the media on a conference call Sunday night and discussed the latest news concerning his football team. Deebo Samuel’s status was the biggest piece of information most were interested in. Muschamp made sure to touch on his situation.

While Samuel is okay, Muschamp gave news that saddened many Gamecocks fans.

Tight end Hayden Hurst also went down in the fourth quarter, but Muschamp said it was nothing to be concerned about.

The South Carolina coach updated the media about a few other injuries and talked about his team improving in certain areas after the loss to Kentucky.
